I want you to know something. I am attracted to others of the same gender.
Coming out, I was led to believe I was less deserving.
Coming out, I was pushed into counseling.
Coming out, I was informed I would find the right woman.
Coming out, I was advised that I do not need hate protections in the law.
Coming out, I was warned that asking for marriage is asking too much.
Coming out, I was unsure of myself.
Coming out, I wanted to end my life.
Coming out, I shut up.
People hated me. People wanted me to change. People wanted to harm me.
Now that I am out, I know I am a human being, damn it.
Now that I am out, I know I do not need harmful therapy.
Now that I am out, I know I have found the best lover.
Now that I am out, I know I must have the same hate protections as others.
Now that I am out, I know that nothing less than marriage will be acceptable.
Now that I am out, I am proud of who I am.
Now that I am out, I have reasons to live.
Now that I am out, I will not shut up.
Some people still hate me. Some people still want me to change. Some people still want to harm me.
I do not care about what anyone else thinks about me. I have come out to tell you that I do not want special rights. I have come out to tell you that I will accept nothing less than the same rights straight people and heterosexual couples get.

“Judge Hides Names of Anti–Gay Bigots”
I wrote in the comments:
“So, what about the time between when the issue is (and I really hope it isn’t) approved for the ballot and September 3rd? The Office of the Secretary of State (OSOS) is now prevented from releasing the names of those who signed.
“Gay people have historically been the victims of hatred. Now, the backers of keeping public records sealed are afraid of being hated? This would be brilliant comic material if the matter wasn’t so important. To those who think there will be a bunch of gays with guns going after those who signed: Seriously? All I want to do (and I might very well be speaking for others) is make sure I stop supporting those who want to limit my rights.
“What about the fact that the OSOS says that signature gatherers can lie to get signatures? Under the current law, it's alright to print petitions that say something like ‘Lock up the gays to protect your pensions from being fleeced’ in huge type at the top, just as long as the real issue is printed (in 6–point type) somewhere on the petition form. Even though signers really should read what they're signing, did you know that people who have been tricked can not get their name removed?
“I’m really hoping that there was fraud involved and that a large number of the signatures are void. But the way this is being played, I’d wouldn't be surprised if the petitions are ‘good’ in the eyes of the OSOS (see above). But on the other hand, I’d love to see the issue make the ballot and our side win. The afterwards when mainstream news outlets ‘start investigating’ about how morally bankrupt these ‘Protect Marriage’ people are (lying and cheating within the bounds of pathetic petitions laws) people would see this as a big victory.
“Times are changing. Soon these issues won't matter to voters anymore. That's why the bigots are so interested in making sure their views are law before they kick the bucket.”

“The Many Versions of Windows 7”
This is an example of why Microsoft is screwed. Apple has two versions of their system: Leopard (for clients) and Leopard Server. And I know, he didn’t even tackle Windows server products. I tried to even out things by including Leopard Server.
Did you know that Leopard server costs $499 for ten clients and $999 for unlimited clients? Snow Leopard Server will change that. $499 for unlimited clients. What’s the per client cost for Windows server?

“The White House might need to throw another party for the LGBT leaders.”
Looks like the colored president strikes again. What happened to the man I voted for?

“Vision, not quite our thing.”
The “professional” gays can kiss my ass. Hell of a job they did with Prop 8.

“Trooper James Wharton was not ashamed to show off his gay pride on the front cover of the latest Soldier magazine.”

“This month, for the first time in its history, the cover of the British Army’s official publication Soldier magazine shows Trooper James Wharton — openly gay — clad in his dress uniform, complete with Iraq medal, next to the headline ‘Pride’. It is the most obvious sign that almost a decade after the military lifted the ban on homosexuality it is finally comfortable with its new clothes.”
“The arguments against overturning the policy are weak and outdated.”
Why, if you looked around the world, you’d find that pretty much every other country allows openly gay soldiers to serve. Maybe they’re onto something…
Last post — here
I have two quick things to share with those following my blog:
First, I’m sorry. :-)
Second, I’m moving the whole thing over to infodriveway.org effective immediately.
I look forward to seeing you there!

“No, they’re also opposed to any marriage performed at City Hall — without God.”
And now you know that they won’t stop at banning same-gender marriages. Next, they’ll want to stop opposite-sex marriages that don’t align with their beliefs.

“Once you’re outta that vagina, it’s every baby for himself!”
And if I disagree with “opposite” marriage, does that mean that it’s socially acceptable for me to stop paying taxes to a government that subsidizes heterosexual unions?
These people would understand, right? (If you have one, insert your choice of deity here), I think I’m losing my mind. Too much stupidity.

“Maybe the administration should spend more time building public support for the smoking ban so that they can do this by the end of the next term…”
“But only if Congress takes the lead.”
Don’t know or care if I’ve posted this before…
I found this post by Andrew Sullivan in my queue:
“This isn’t about intelligence. It isn’t about national security. It’s sadism. Treating human beings this way is simply evil.”
What has happened to this country?
At what point do we stop pretending that the Constitution applies to the government anymore?
Do my views make me an “enemy combatant”? Will I be subjected to “Enhanced Interrogation Techniques”?
I watched an older Law & Order last week. It was about a group of men who decided they’d try to overthrow the government. Starting with robbing an armored car. They were mad as hell about the government.
I’m definitely not saying it’s time to get the guns and take to the streets. But we need change. I was so glad to see Obama elected. We needed change. We needed leadership.
One cannot turn the ship of state around in just six months, but I wonder if he plans on doing something. Maybe he isn’t up to this challenge. I’d expect change to happen — although over time — if he were talking big about change still. Or pushing Congress to act. But he appears to be doing neither.
On a similar note, I think there’s been plenty of times to get concerned about the direction — and spending habits — of the country. But I question why Teabaggers are freaking out now. Why once a Democrap got into office?
In no particular order, I’d suggest a couple of points at which people should have said something or done something:
• When the Supreme Court interfered with the state of Florida in deciding who to award its Electoral College votes to. And we let them.
• When Medicare and Medicaid were started. And we let them.
• When Medicare was expanded to cover prescription drugs and the law banned the government from negotiating lower drug prices. And we let them.
• When we suffered from terrorist attacks within our borders and the people leading our government went ape–shit crazy, taking away our rights. And we let them.
• When sensible restrictions on the banking and investment industries were destroyed. And we let them.
• When the country has settled into complacency and decided two political parities whose ideas are almost the same are allowed to strangle any differing political views. And we let them.
Why do we let them? Isn’t our government?

“There are ways to make a constituency feel better about your intentions, even as you drag your feet for political reasons.”
Michelangelo Signorile continues, “Obama hasn’t done even that.”
This seems to best sum up my dislike of where the train ran off the tracks for the Obama administration. I helped fight for this coloured* man to attain the highest office in the land — in the world. And this is what I get? Smelt?
It’d be one thing if Michael and I were married across all 50 states by the end of Obama’s administration — I don’t see that happening — but couldn’t there be something? Anything? It’s been practically radio silence at 1600 Pennsylvania since this thing first went down. If this is part of his master plan to secure our rights, then damn, it’s one of the most fucking amazing political plays of all time.
* Why the fuck am I referring to the president using terminology from last century? Well, the world has moved forward in regard to my rights. Why is the president still stuck in the past?
